UEFA Champions League Results: Manchester City edge Napoli, Spurs hold Real Madrid

Manchester City took command of Group F in the Champions League, with a 2-1 win over Napoli on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola’s men raced into a two-goal lead in the first 20 minutes of the match, thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus.

Kevin De Bruyne, who played a part in both goals, hit the woodwork as City threatened to run away with the game.
Diawara pulled one back from the penalty spot, after Dries Mertens had missed from 12 yards in the first half.

Real Madrid needed a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty to cancel out Raphael Varane’s own goal, as they held Tottenham to a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Liverpool hammered Maribor 7-0, Spartak Moscow beat Sevilla 5-1, Monaco lost 2-1 at home to Besiktas, Leipzing edged FC Porto 3-2 and Shakhtar Donestk claimed a 2-1 win at Feyernoord.
