The All Progressives Congress Anambra State, today (Friday) flagged off it’s governorship campaign at All Saints Cathedral field, Onitsha, Anambra state.
An eyewitness who was at the venue confirmed the attendance of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, National Chairman John Oyegun, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, Kaduna’s Nasir el-rufai, Minister for science and technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Labour Minister, Dr Chris Ngige, Senator (mrs) Uche Ekwunife, Dr Jim Nwobodo, Engr. Arthur Eze, Former governorship Aspirant in Abia state, Uche Ogah, former governorship Aspirants: George Moughalu, Barth Nwibe, Johnbosco Onunkwo, Nonso Madu, Chukwuma Paul, among many other dignitaries.
Recall that Dr Tony Nwoye, emerged the APC governorship candidate after the August 26 primaries where he came out victorious.
Nwoye, a member of the house of representatives and one of the youngest among the 37 candidates will after today’s event begin his campaign proper towards the November 18th election.
It is important to note that APC’s Nwoye will be in the contest with APGA, PDP and 35 other political parties.
The National Organising Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Osita Izunaso, in his speech confirmed that a total of 12 Governors, 17 Ministers and 40 Senators were invited.
The APC guber candidate, Dr Tony Nwoye after receiving the flag jointly presented by the National Chairman of the party John Oyegun and the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo promised to revamp Education and Healthcare in the state. He accused the present governor of siphoning local government funds meant for the people at the grassroot and promised that if elected as Governor, he will create Jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in the state.
Nwoye, used the opportunity to plead with the Vice President to ensure that work begins at Enugu/Onitsha expressway noting that the Federal government has appropriated about N6bn for the construction of the Onitsha axis of the road in the 2017 budget.
