Courts bans valentine celebration

There won't be valentine celebration in public in Pakistan, as a Pakistani court ruled against the celebration in public places across the country.

Speaking to newsmen after th
e ruling, the Petitioner, Abdul Waheed further disclosed that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) also ordered local media not to publicise anything related to the day, which Majid Bhatti, a lawyer at the IHC confirmed. The ban, which has sparked controversy, came after President Mamnoon Hussain, asked citizens of the country not to celebrate because it was not a Muslim festival, but a Western tradition.

“Valentine’s Day has no connection with our culture and it should be avoided’’he said.
